DealNews – App Upgraded

Rebuilding a 17-million-user app to match the website it had drifted away from.
DealNews has spent decades helping millions of consumers find the best prices online, but its iOS and Android apps had fallen behind the website in both design and functionality. With 17 million monthly users on the platform, even small improvements to the app experience had the potential to move real numbers.
The app and website had grown apart over time, creating a fragmented experience for users who moved between the two. A visual and functional update was needed to close that gap, improve login convenience, and give the app a consistent identity that matched what users already knew from the web.
Challenge
The existing app lacked third-party login options, had no account sync with the website, offered limited filtering, and used iconography that was visually inconsistent with the DealNews brand.
Solution
The login screen was rebuilt to support 3rd party sign-in, a new filter bar and updated icons were added, saved searches were synced, and modal pop-ups were introduced.
Result
Following the redesign rollout, on-site conversions increased by 18%, driven by a more cohesive cross-platform experience for DealNews’ 17 million monthly users.
